Join us as we welcome Caren S. Neile, Ph.D., MFA, Dr. Neile has taught for the School of Communication & Multimedia Studies at Florida Atlantic University since 2000. A performance storyteller, she hosts The Public Storyteller weekly on public radio WLRN 91.3FM, as well as storytelling slams, series and workshops. She is a returned Peace Corps volunteer, the former chair of the National Storytelling Network and a former Fulbright Senior Specialist in Vienna and Jerusalem. Dr. Neile has published widely, including a chapter in the new Oxford Handbook of American Folklore and Folklife Studies, and the books Florida Lore (History Press) and The Great American Story (Lambert). Her second book for the History Press, Only in Florida, is due out in early March, 2020.
Not only will she share some stories of some local historic characters, she will tell us how to preserve our own family's histories.
